Nano calcium carbonate particle has been the most commonly used inorganic fillers for thermoplastics, such as poly and polypropylene. Before, surface modification of calcium carbonate has been very useful in the polymer-filler interactions. And now, the nano calcium carbonate particles can increase the interfacial area between the filler and polymer. In addition, the nano calcium carbonate particles can provide better surface smoothness and high gloss. The surface-treated calcium carbonate can increase the fracture toughness than untreated CaCO3.
