There are two methods to grind calcium carbonate into ultrafine powder: dry grinding and wet grinding:
The dry grinding is generally used to produce calcium carbonate powder with d97 ≥ 3-5 μm, and the wet grinding generally produce calcium carbonate with d97 ≤ 3-5 μm.

Ultrafine calcium carbonate powder d97≤5μm (d90≤2μm or d60≤2μm) made by wet grinding is often used for papermaking and paint coating.
The wet process line is mainly used for the production of ultra-fine heavy calcium carbonate d97≤5μm (d90≤2μm or d60≤2μm) for papermaking and paint coating. The wet grinding mill includes various types of wet mixing ball mill, web sand mill and wet spiral mixing mill.
The whole wet grinding is mainly composed of a wet agitating mill or a grinding and stripping machine, and a corresponding storage tank and pump. The raw material is adjusted into a certain concentration (or solid-liquid ratio) slurry by adding water and a dispersing agent to the slurry tank, and is pumped into the stirring mill through the slurry tank for continuous grinding. The finished slurry after grinding and grinding is separated into grinding medium and then enters the slurry tank, and the magnetic separator is used to remove iron pollution and iron-containing impurities.
